Veliero Bookcase by FRANCO ALBINI
Designed by Franco Albini in 1940 as a unique piece for his Milanese home, the Cassina Veliero Bookcase was born as an experiment in balance and lightness, capable of combining aesthetic research with structural engineering. The Veliero Bookcase by Cassina represents one of the boldest projects in modern design. The intervention by Cassina has allowed the bookcase to adapt to contemporary needs without betraying the original design, maintaining intact the philosophy of “subtraction” typical of the author.
The design of the Cassina Veliero Bookcase is distinguished by its suspended structure that seems to defy gravity. Two solid ash wood uprights, connected by stainless steel and glass tensioners, support the extra clear tempered and laminated glass shelves, creating a geometry of great visual balance. The cables and metal counterweights, calibrated with engineering precision, maintain the tension of the entire structure, while the MDF base ensures stability and solidity. Every detail of the Veliero Cassina testifies to Albini's extraordinary ability to transform furniture into a poetic and technical object at the same time. The play of transparency and solidity generates a unique visual effect: books and objects seem to float in space, suspended between air and light.

In addition to the version in natural ash, the Franco Albini Veliero Bookcase is available in a limited edition in black-stained ash, with shiny stainless steel metal elements.

Features of the Veliero Bookcase
Technical Features: The Cassina Veliero Bookcase rests on a base in MDF veneered with ash with a solid wood frame, and a black matte painted metal frame. The shelves are made of extra-clear tempered and laminated glass, with a thickness of 7 mm. The uprights and crosspieces are made of solid ash wood. Each piece is numbered and produced with the craftsmanship that characterizes the iMaestri collection, dedicated to the historical masterpieces of 20th-century design.
