The company took its first steps in 1989, when Enzo Catellani, founder and designer, made his first creations, Turciù and Albero della Vita, characterized by the use of flex and a new concept of lamp based on interaction with this object -subject. A few years later the various experiments began: from the reflection on the warm color of the light that led to the Luce d'Oro collection, to the irregular lighting surfaces. The company received many awards, including the great honor of illuminating the Casa Batllò in Barcelona, a UNESCO heritage site, with the Macchine della Luce, Postkrisi and Bella collections. Catellani&Smith design style continued to renew itself keeping up with the times, combining LED technology with the new finishes of copper-colored leaves and joining an cutting-edge processes for the manufacturing of glass, characterized by plays of colors and visual projections made by Giuliano Gaigher. Currently the Italian company is present in Europe, the Middle East, America, Asia and Africa, and after 30 successful years it is now opening its doors to new partners and collaborators, enlightened young designers, who can conceive products in line with Catellani's strong personality and thought.
