Barovier&Toso

In the nineteenth century Giuseppe and Benedetto Barovier brothers founded the Artisti Barovier company, starting the first experiments with Murano glass: the manufacturing of murrini fusi, the production of classic blown glass and murrine vases were born. The 20th century is marked by the figure of Ercole Barovier, inventor of new processing techniques such as hot coloring without fusion and the technique of rostrum glass. Thanks to him the company obtained important official acknowledgments, such as the prize at the Monza Triennale and the Venice Biennale, the Grand Prix at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris and the honorable mention at the Compasso d'Oro.

In 1939 the company, after many changes and mergers, acquired the current name Barovier & Toso and continued its evolution until the end of the eighties with the beginning of the production of luxury glass lighting. In this period, iconic pieces were reinterpreted by adapting them to new technologies, such as the Camparino table lamp or the Venice 1295 chandelier, while other icons were born from scratch, such as Taif, a chandelier created for the Saudi king, Dhamar and Perseus. Barovier&Toso has brought the magic and refinement of Murano glass into iconic places of Italian and international culture and history, such as the Vatican Museums, the Prince of Savoy in Milan, the Casablanca mosque, as well as in temples of fashion, like the Cartier boutique in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana and Luis Vuitton.
