New Cassina collection at Milan Design Week
The 2024 Milan Design Week was an exceptional opportunity for Cassina, not only to introduce new design proposals that blend aesthetics and functionality in the company's distinctive style but also to revisit some of the iconic products that have marked its history, giving them a new look. Thus, "The Cassina Perspective 2024" continues at the Salone, an ongoing expression of the Lombard brand's commitment and vision for living.
Among the most interesting products presented, the Cornaro sofa and Cornaro armchair undoubtedly stand out, conceived by master designer Carlo Scarpa in 1973. Their geometric rigor and refined lines evoke the relaxed atmosphere of the 1970s. Also noteworthy is the unique Notturno a New York sofa, a tribute by the brilliant Italian designer Gaetano Pesce to the city that never sleeps, New York: it is a truly one-of-a-kind sofa, a visionary work where the skyline of Pesce's adopted city, NYC, is recreated. However, the innovation that has most excited experts is undoubtedly the Moncloud armchair, offspring of the now iconic Moncloud sofa, made unique by the fact that it was constructed without any gluing, allowing each element to be separated from the others
The versatile and refined design of the iconic Dudet chair by Patricia Urquiola has now been transferred to the Dudet sofa and Dudet armchair, seats with a relaxed, retro style, also characterized by strong references to the atmosphere of the 1970s. The Flutz chair, designed by Michael Anastassiades, presents a striking visual contrast due to a rigorous metal structure that accommodates a comfortable and inviting seat. The inspiration? The elegant and "surgical" movements of figure skating. Philippe Starck brings high-fashion style to the world of furnishings with the Somewhere EL-S armchair, which echoes the world of saddlery, while the Tamburound armchair by the British duo Edward Barber – Jay Osgerby is made unique by the presence of a full rotation of both the back and the seat, reminiscent of the internal mechanisms of satellites rotating around a planet. Last but not least, among the products Cassina presented at Milan Design Week is also the Trampoline outdoor lounge chair, playful outdoor item with rounded shapes and a strong Mediterranean feel.
Cassina News: trends, updates, developments
Tables also play a fundamental role in Cassina's new collection, among which the Montparnasse table by Charlotte Perriand, with an asymmetrical six-sided top, and the Ordinal coffee table stand out, designed for living rooms and lounge spaces. One of the products that attracted the most attention from enthusiasts is the Indochine chaise longue, an iconic piece of furniture equipped with armrests, for reading, writing, and working in complete relaxation. Finally, Cassina also presented the Somewhere El-S carpet and the Rigadino carpet, the latter a contribution of unconventional elegance inspired by the historic Venetian manufactories.
Cassina has confirmed itself as one of the most interesting furniture and design brands at the 2024 Milan Design Week, distinguishing itself with items that were able to stand out among the vast array of participating brands and new products presented.
