Cassina reinterprets this masterpiece with a philological approach and meticulous attention to materials, restoring the expressive strength and geometric purity of the original. Designed for the administrative offices of the Secretariat of the Capitol Complex, the Capitol Complex Chair represents one of the most significant examples of the collaboration between Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier.
The Capitol Complex Chair by Cassina perfectly embodies the dialogue between European modernism and Indian tradition, thanks to the use of local materials and the essentiality of the design. The collection is part of the research path conducted by Cassina in the Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret project, aimed at preserving and enhancing the symbols of Chandigarh's design. Technical Features: The seat and backrest of the Cassina Capitol Complex Chair are made of woven Vienna straw, a craftsmanship that lends lightness and breathability to the seat, contrasting with the solidity of the frame. The solid wood structure is distinguished by the characteristic inverted "V" shape of the side supports, which converge upward to support the armrest in the office version and, in the armless version, create a simple and harmonious profile.
Comfort: Each Capitol Complex Chair comes with an optional cushion with polyurethane foam padding, which adds comfort without altering the clean lines of the design.
