Soriana Sofa by AFRA - TOBIA SCARPA
The Soriana Sofa by Cassina was born in 1969 from the intuition of Afra and Tobia Scarpa, who transformed the very concept of comfort into a revolutionary project. The sofa was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1970 as an example of complexity achieved with simple means, becoming a symbol of Italian creativity. Its innovative structure eliminates the need for an internal frame: the padded volume is contained and shaped by the steel clamp that embraces it, defining its profile in a fluid and natural way.
The design of the Cassina Soriana Sofa moves between formal rigor and informal softness, with a generous and welcoming silhouette that invites conviviality and relaxation. Cassina, in collaboration with Tobia Scarpa, has reissued the model as part of the project Cassina LAB, introducing sustainable materials and technical solutions designed for well-being and durability. The internal padding made of BioFoam® microspheres, a bioplastic of plant origin, ergonomically adapts to the body, while the outer part made of 100% recycled PET blown fiber, sourced from Plastic Bank®, offers a soft enveloping feel and pleasant elasticity to the touch.

Removable Upholstery: The Soriana Sofa is covered in leather or fabric selected from the Cassina collections.
Technical Features: Basic structure made of a recyclable wood panel with low formaldehyde emissions, confirming the brand's commitment to more sustainable design. Quilting with covered buttons, held by patented plastic fasteners, maintains the shape and character of the original tufted workmanship. The steel and plastic feet and wheels ensure stability, while the powder-coated or chrome-plated steel clamp, available in various colors (glossy white, China red, or emerald green), adds a sculptural and decorative touch.
Comfort: Thanks to the internal padding made of BioFoam® microspheres or EPS spheres and the external layer of 100% recycled PET blown fiber or polyester, the Soriana sofa is also an icon of comfort.
