Maralunga 40S Sofa by VICO MAGISTRETTI
The Maralunga 40S sofa of Cassina represents the evolution of an iconic project designed by Vico Magistretti in 1973, awarded the Compasso d’Oro ADI and part of the collection Cassina iMaestri. This model renews the famous Maralunga sofa through a design with a contemporary profile, featuring perimeter stitching that highlights its shape and a completely removable cover in the fabric version, designed to ensure practicality and durability over time.
In 2014 Cassina celebrated the fortieth anniversary of this iconic model with the launch of the sofa Maralunga 40S, characterized by renewed materials and a design with more defined lines. In 2024, in collaboration with the Magistretti Foundation, the internal system was further refined, allowing an additional 7° tilt of the backrest and even greater comfort.

Removable Covering: Completely removable in the fabric version. The Maralunga 40S sofa is available in the fabrics of the Cassina collections. The complete removable cover allows for easy maintenance, preserving the aesthetic quality and functionality of a product that remains a benchmark in the design of home comfort.
Technical FeaturesThe internal structure made of tubular steel with elastic straps ensures durability over time, while the padding in differentiated density polyurethane guarantees a soft and supportive seat. The bases can be made of solid canaletto walnut or lacquered in the colors of the collection, completing a project that combines technical innovation, aesthetic research, and authentic home comfort. The backrest is equipped with an independent reclining headrest for each seat, while the depth and height vary based on the chosen position.
Comfort: The comfort of the Maralunga 40S sofa by Cassina It derives from the patented mechanism that allows the backrest to be adjusted in two positions: one lower, ideal for conversation, and one higher, perfect for relaxation. The innovative system, based on a bicycle chain integrated into the structure, allows for the height adjustment of the headrest in a simple way and independently for each seat.
