The Maralunga 40 sofa of Cassina, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1973 and winner of the Compasso d’Oro ADI, it is an icon of international design. Its welcoming shape and the possibility to adjust the backrest make it one of the longest-lasting and most recognizable models in the history of the brand. The introduction of the patented internal chain mechanism, Cassina, allows you to instantly transition from a lower and formal position to a higher and relaxed one, adapting to different postures and everyday moments of use.
In 2014, on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary, Cassina has presented the Maralunga 40 sofa, an updated version with a more contemporary profile and refined details. The upholstery is enhanced by a distinctive perimeter stitching that highlights its balanced proportions and artisanal quality. For the fabric version, the company also offers the Maralunga 40-S model, completely removable and easy to maintain.

Features of the Maralunga 40 Sofa
Removable Covering: The fabric or leather upholstery is not removable. In this version, it is enhanced by a characteristic perimeter stitching that emphasizes its balanced proportions and artisanal quality.
Technical Features: The internal structure in tubular steel with elastic straps ensures durability over time, while the padding in differentiated density polyurethane foam guarantees a soft and supportive seat. The bases can be made of solid walnut wood or lacquered in the colors of the collection, completing a project that combines technical innovation, aesthetic research, and genuine home comfort. The backrest is equipped with an independent reclining headrest for each seat, while the depth and height vary based on the chosen position.
Comfort: The most recent evolution, introduced in 2024, has further refined the comfort of the Maralunga 40 sofa. Thanks to research conducted with the Magistretti Foundation, the backrest mechanism has been enhanced, allowing for an increased tilt of 7° for an even deeper sense of relaxation.
