The Lady Armchair by Cassina is a masterpiece designed by Marco Zanuso in 1951, a symbol of the innovation that defined Italian post-war design. Designed to combine technological research and comfort, the Lady Chair represents a construction revolution: it was the first chair to use polyurethane foam and foam rubber instead of traditional metal springs. This pioneering approach gave rise to a new, light, and welcoming shape that combines aesthetics and engineering with a naturalness never seen before.
Cassina, which has been producing the Lady Armchair as part of its iMaestri collection since 2015, has reinterpreted its charm in a contemporary key, while keeping the values of the original design intact. The armchair is available in fabric or leather, including the iconic version with black and white checkered upholstery and a matte basalt-painted base, a tribute to the model exhibited at the IX Triennale di Milano, where it won the Gold Medal. The current reissue enriches the range of finishes with precious Cassina fabrics, including those designed by Raf Simons, which enhance the versatility and refinement of the design. Removable Upholstery: The Lady by Cassina can be upholstered with a removable cover.
Technical Features: The seat is sprung with reinforced elastic straps for extra comfort, while the slender metal legs emphasize the light elegance of the design.
Comfort: The padding of the Lady by Zanuso is made of cold-foamed polyurethane foam, a material that guarantees durability, uniform support, and resistance to sagging. Flexible polyurethane foam is also used, ensuring a comfortable and enveloping seat. A layer of polyester fiber wadding completes the padding, adding softness and effective thermal insulation..
