The B&B Italia Tobi-Ishi Table, designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, is a piece of furniture with a strongly iconic character, whose name evokes the ornamental stones of Japanese gardens—a reference found in the table’s construction and in the relationship between the top and the legs. The legs, with their full, asymmetrical shape, support the cantilevered top, which appears different depending on the viewing angle. The tabletop and legs never appear as separate elements, but as parts of a single domestic architecture, designed to give character to the dining room without the need for additional details.
