It easily distinguishes itself with its recognizable form and contemporary representation of the female figure. This chair represents a unique blend of design and art, offering the wide public an innovative experience that showcases B&B Italia's extraordinary technological expertise in polyurethane injection molding.
The iconic UP5_6 armchair stands out within the extensive and original collection of B&B Italia armchairs, thanks to its unmistakable anthropomorphic references. Conceived as a wide maternal womb, this chair recalls the votive statues of fertility goddesses from ancient times. However, it features a distinctive element: a sphere that serves as an ottoman and is attached to the chair's body. This additional detail symbolizes a woman imprisoned by herself, with a ball and chain. Gaetano Pesce explains that with this chair, he wanted to convey his conception of a woman who has always, unwittingly, been a captive of herself, hence the choice of a form that resembles a woman with a ball and chain, also representing the traditional image of a prisoner.
Made with an innovative structure of cold flexible polyurethane foam, Bayfit, the Serie Up 2000 armchair provides a cozy and pleasant seating experience. The entire surface of the armchair is completely covered in elastic fabric, available in a wide range of colors, allowing for customization to suit any setting.
The Serie Up 2000 collection includes the Serie Up Compasso d'Oro Armchair, created to celebrate the victory of the "Award for Product Career 2022" and the Up Junior Armchair, specifically designed for children aged three and above. This scaled-down version faithfully maintains the original design, allowing the little ones to enjoy the same comfort and style as their parents. Within the series, you can also find the Foot UP7, a true object-sculpture presented as an oversized archaeological fragment, as well as the Serie Up 2000 sofa.
