How to clean a leather sofa

The sofa is the protagonist of the living area, a refuge for relaxation and place for the free time with family and friends. It must be comfortable, practical and durable.

Therefore, the concerns are many when you want to choose a leather sofa, commonly considered more delicate and high maintenance than a removable fabric sofa. In fact, ways to clean and take care of a leather sofa are numerous and simple, in most cases we can used products that already in our homes.

For frequent cleaning, you can just use a damp chamois cloth dampened with warm water.

If the sofa is light brown or white, a more thorough cleaning can be made, from time to time, with water and skim milk, to be massaged with a soft cloth and then be removed with a damp cloth. The leather has to be dried carefully.

Alternatively, we can use the common cleanser used as make up remover. 

If the leather has stains that are not removed by these methods, you can use soap diluted in warm water.

Once a year, the leather sofa can be treated with a body moisturizing cream that softens and prevents from flaking. To polish the sofa, you can use beeswax, neutral or color of the couch.

In general, for cleaning the leather sofa you should never use aggressive detergents or abrasive sponges. It is good practice to always test the cleaning product on a small inconspicuous portion of the sofa, to verify that does not stain or ruin.
