Design School: Nordic Style

Candid, clear and essential: here are the perfect adjectives to describe the Nordic Style.

In northern cities, it is common knowledge that there are few hours of daylight, especially in the fall and winter seasons, so the Nordic style is characterized by light, bright and reflective colors.

Nordic style stands out thanks to bright colors that enlighten the room. From white to pastel colors, the Nordic style focuses on light tones and solid colors. As for the materials, wood (like oak, walnut, ash or birch) is the preferred choice, because it is insulating, natural and warm.

Also black, in various shades, plays an important role in Nordic design. Just a small detail to bring out the brightness of the white walls, a vase, the sofa cushions or simple frames wall.

The biggest names in the Nordic style are Arne Jacobsen, Eero Saarinen, Alvar Aalto and Eero Saarinen, who have made the history of contemporary design.

Nordic style, for its simplicity, is similar to the minimalist design. From contemporary minimalism, however, it is distinguished by a sense of warmth and hospitality, and for the search of intimate informality.
