The National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome presents an innovative art project conceived by artist Sandro Tomassini. The exhibition in the museum's educational rooms, set up with the technical collaboration of Tomassini Arredamenti, stands out for its strong inclusive vocation. In fact, the eighteen works by Tomassini on display in Rome have been created to be accessible to blind and visually impaired people, thanks to the use of tactile surfaces and diverse materials that stimulate touch and perceptual memory.
In this context, art becomes an interactive language, capable of uniting visitors of all ages and backgrounds in a collective experience. The initiative is part of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art's broader commitment to a culture of accessibility, which values art as an educational and social tool.

Tomassini Arredamenti is confirmed as the technical partner of the project, playing a decisive role in defining the exhibition layout. The Umbrian company has brought its decades of experience in contemporary and accessible design to the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome, helping to create a museum space where art, perception, and interaction merge into a single sensory experience.
For over fifty years, Tomassini Arredamenti has promoted a design approach based on research, sensitivity, and innovation, supporting initiatives that enhance dialogue between the arts and inclusion as a founding principle. “Design is culture in motion, it is interaction between people and the environments that welcome them. This project is a virtuous example of how aesthetics can become a shared language and a tool for accessibility,” emphasizes Roberto Tomassini, CEO of the Terni-based company.
The collaboration with the GNAMC Museum confirms the company's role as a qualified player in the Made in Italy design scene, capable of combining design excellence with strong social responsibility. The team of architects and designers at Tomassini Arredamenti develops tailor-made solutions for residential, public, and even museum contexts, applying their technical expertise and aesthetic sensibility to enhance art as an inclusive and participatory experience.

For Sandro Tomassini, art exists only in the moment of encounter. His works, he explains, “give people the opportunity to interact, to transform and recreate them”, an invitation to overcome the distance between author and audience. Each module, panel, or sculpture is designed to be touched, rotated, and manipulated: a gesture that does not destroy but generates, because “one work can give rise to another which is the result of individual experience”.
In this continuous dialogue between matter and movement, the viewer becomes a co-author, participating in a process in which art is renewed with every contact. Precisely in this ability to regenerate itself, as a matter of fact, Tomassini claims that “the true meaning of my work is art that generates other art through human contact”.
The National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome is exhibiting 18 artworks by artist Tomassini for the first time, all of which share a strong spirit of inclusion. These include Sondrat 1, part of the Immagini Variabili collection, which makes fabric a changeable element to the touch; 10 x 10, which balances geometric order and color; and Problem Solving, which redefines the boundaries between play and art.
The entire OTI series brings together a collection of changing and never-the-same works, in which visitors are invited to create. Also part of the exhibition is Contemporary Work of Art, a finalist for the 2023 Mondadori Art Prize, which explores the universal dimension of artistic language.
Sandro Tomassini's art exhibition in Rome can be visited in the educational spaces of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, at Viale delle Belle Arti, 131, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The gallery is committed to ensuring accessibility for all visitors, with appropriate services; for people with disabilities, an accessible entrance is available at Via Gramsci, 71.
The exhibition opening was held on October 29, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the same educational areas. The event was attended by museum director Renata Cristina Mazzantini, art historian Giovanna Coltelli, and the artist himself, who presented the works and guided visitors on a journey of discovery through this sensory and shared experience.
