How to furnish a rental home

Often, with an apartment to rent out, no one devotes too much attention to furnishings: an old sofa, grandmother's table, a low cost kitchen and you're done, or so it seems.

Most of the time, you do not realize how important is the decor in the choice of a home from potential tenants. Furnishing a property badly, putting furniture together from previous houses that have nothing to do with each other, create an unpleasant and cold environment.

Furnish it with care, following precise rules, and it will be a lot simpler to rent it out and to derive more profit from the investment.

The first step is to imagine the kind of tenants that we want to address, starting from the apartment's characteristics: it is suitable for a single, a couple or a family? In what kind of building is it? It has fine finishes? And so on.

Once you know the type of people that would enjoy our apartment, you must furnish it thinking to meet their needs: for a family, the kitchen must be well equipped and with a large pantry space, the second bedroom will be furnished for a kids bedroom instead of a home office or a guest room.

As for the style, it is important to choose a theme: if we rent our apartment as a holiday home in a seaside town or the mountains, we can choose furnishings that recall the marine style or that of a log cabin. If it comes to a city apartment for long-term rentals, however, we can choose a classic or contemporary style, but do not overdo it: rather neutral furnishings allow tenants to add pieces to their taste without too many matching problems.

Neutral colors are also perfect for the walls, for floors and for textiles such as curtains and carpets, to meet the taste of the majority of people.
